As a
supervisor before taking actions, ask yourself these questions -
1. Have rules / policies / procedures /
standards been carefully communicated to all employees? Are they published in
your employee hand book? On prominent bulletin boards, in your labour
agreements?
2. Have you gotten the facts before
proceeding?
3. Have you given prior verbal / written
warning? Can you prove these by dates / times / actions.
4. Have you been consistent in the
enforcement of your rules?
5. Are such similar rules consistently
enforced throughout your organization?
6. Are there any mitigating / special
circumstances involved?
